slaine : the devil never dies : review

I am going to start off by saying I have no idea how a dude goes into a studio for just over two weeks straight and comes back out with a mixtape/album as good as “The Devil never Dies”. Slaine is a furious man who uses his anger and transforms that into an energy that keeps him moving all the time, like a god damn shark. “The Devil never Dies” is a barrage of tracks that link together and create one hell of a vibe, it builds and comes down for a second and then builds all over again and that makes it impossible to switch off at any certain moment. Needless to say Slaine’s rhymes make the album, but so does the production cats that Slaine brought in to help him put this record together. With producers like Stoupe, Sicknature, Statik Skelektah and appearances from Ill Bill, Q-Unique, Jaysaun, Esoteric and more this is one serious mixture of not only talent, but sounds and styles. Tracks like Sounds Of Trife, Mind Of A Criminal (Remix) and The Worst are total ragers while other songs like Going Down and Old English II are more laid back and humorous at times.
Slaine – Mind Of A Criminal (Remix) (Produced By LüBalz)
Slaine – Burn ft. Amadeus & Chilla Jones (Produced by Sicknature)
The lyrical content of this mix tape is great and covers everything from dealing with success, broken childhood, fake rappers and even the reason this tape was made in the first place. Slaine is a man the seems to wear his heart on his sleeve when it comes to his music and that is what makes this album real, you get a glimpse into his mind, thoughts and what makes him tick. He touches on many subject in his personal life that take a lot of sand to put out there for the masses to hear about. This album has a certain darkness to it that draws the listener in and keeps them there wanting to know more and perhaps relating on many things.
Slaine – My Girl, My Wife, My Mother My Bitch (Produced By LüBalz)
Slaine – Science of the Trife (Feat. ILL BILL & Q-Unique) (Produced By C Lance)
In the face of adversity Slaine hits the studio and puts out a free mix tape for his fans to download while they wait the extra few moths for his full length album “A World Wtth No Skies” to drop; that right there is reason enough to rock “The Devil Never Dies” and spread it around as much as possible. On top of all that, it also happens to be one of the better hip hop albums that I have heard in the last year which is a huge testament to Slaine’s talent and drive. Amazing album, talented rapper and its free so download it below ya buggers.
