madball dismiss drummer jay weinberg during canadian tour

September 22, 2010

Well it was a short lived affair, but it is fact that Madball has dismissed new drummer Jay Weinberg from his duties during their Canadian tour. Madball front man Freddy Cricien had this to say about the incident : “I’m letting Jay go in Canada because I just feel he doesn’t represent this band well on a character level. It would go against my own code of ethics to keep him around. Not saying he’s a bad drummer. I won’t take that away from him. But the reality is – he has a lot to learn about paying dues, and about life in general. Granted, he is a kid, but I’m not sure that he’ll ever be built for this particular lifestyle. I wish him the best of luck, but the MADBALL machine rolls on!”

I will tell you this. I have been into Madball since they started and they have gone through many line up changes and a ton of hardship and they continue to put out amazing records, kill it live and are some of the best guys I have ever had the pleasure to have a beer with. So believe me when I say whatever the reason behind this decision I am sure it was for the best and that Madball will be killing it for many more years to come. It is also important to point out that this has not affected any of the dates on their current Canadian tour so get your asses out to the shows and Action Recon will see you tomorrow night in Toronto. Now familiarize yourself with their new song R.A.H.C. and we better hear you at the show tomorrow night.
