JOHN JOHN FLORENCE WINS THE VOLCOM PIPELINE PRO

John John Florence has been on a mission lately along Oahu’s North Shore. Florence looped into the ASP tour halfway through the seasonal rotation and from there charged ahead with full force. He quickly snapped the win for the Vans World Cup of Surfing, and continued to go on to win the entire Vans Triple Crown.

Now, to add to Florence’s resume, John John has gone on to win the Volcom Pipeline Pro at Oahu’s Banzai Pipe. Yesterday’s final was about as close as possible, with John John throwing in a 9.93 backdoor barrel in the dying seconds of the final. It looked as though fellow finalist (and former Pipe Pro champion) Jamie O’Brien would be taking the final, but Florence’s last-minute barrel (combined with his earlier perfect 10) gave him the edge for a combined score of 19.93.
2012 Volcom Pipe Pro Results:
1) John John Florence $20,000
2) Jamie O’Brien $10,000
3) Kai Barger $6,500
4) Nate Yeomans $5,500
