Travis Rice is the guy I would have looked up to if I was a kid today. Travis Rice is what keeps snowboardings soul alive, he is the guy who is truly pushing the sport and representing it for the people out there that love the sport in its purest form. When I listen to Travis talk about snowboarding it makes me feel good, makes me so happy that he is the dude who is the best snowboarder in the world. Travis Rice to me is the antithesis of Shaun White. Both are amazing riders, but Rice truly upholds what the sport is really about. Its about soul, giving back and forging a future that will make the next generation proud to say they are snowboarders.

While training with the US snowboard team in Mammoth, California, Elena Hight became the first women to land a double backside alley-oop rodeo in a halfpipe. This could be the trick that finally brings some serious heat to Kelly Clark and her 1080, which was dominating the contest circuit this past winter. Congratulations to Elena Hight on her accomplishment, this trick is no joke and she just upped the ante in women’s snowboarding. Check out the footage below.

Action Recon has close ties to Toronto, Canada. It’s the city where the owner of the site grew up and still frequents for shows, events, debauchers nights on the town and to chill with old friends. We love New York City, Los Angeles, Vegas, Montreal and so many other places in between, we love lots of other spots all over the world as Action Recon is truly a world wide thing, but Toronto definitely holds a special place in our heart.

Recently legendary graff artist, tattooer and designer of Rebel 8 clothing Mike Giant hit our city and laid down some paint on its walls. He was in town for the “UNO” show which was a celebration of street artists from east to west and the talent that they all possess. Lexus loaned Tony Hawk a super rare and rather expensive LFA sports car for a few days and in that time he found a few minutes to jump over it on a skateboard. I am not sure what I find more impressive about this, the fact that he ollied a car or the fact that he is in his mid 40′s and ollied a car. Either way it’s rad and I wonder what Lexus thinks of this little stunt.
